To connect Claude to WordPress, you install a connector plugin on your site, copy the link it gives you, and paste that link into Claude under Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector. A WordPress screen opens, you click Approve, and Claude can now read your site and create drafts on it.

What "connecting Claude to WordPress" actually means
Claude can't log in to your site the way you do. It needs a door. A connector plugin is that door: it gives your site a private address that Claude can talk to, using a standard called MCP (the Model Context Protocol). Claude calls it a custom connector.
Once the door is there, Claude can do the things the plugin allows. Read your posts and pages. Check your SEO titles and descriptions. Create a draft post. Every plugin decides what Claude may touch, and that choice matters more than the setup steps.

Check that it worked
Open a new chat in Claude and ask something that only reads:
"List the five most recent posts on my website, with their SEO titles."
Claude will ask your permission to use the connector the first time. Say yes. If you get your posts back, you're connected. Reading can't change anything on your site, so it's the safest first test there is.
Your first 10 minutes after you connect
Here's where the free connectors leave you on your own. They hand Claude hundreds of tools and no plan, and you end up typing questions into a chat and hoping you asked the right one.

Using ChatGPT instead

Questions owners ask
Can Claude publish posts on its own?
Not with HowToAI School Connector. New posts and pages are always saved as drafts, and you publish them. Other connectors work differently, so check before you install one.
Is it safe to give Claude access to my site?
You decide what it can do. You approve the connection on your own site, you can disconnect it any time from Claude, and with HowToAI School Connector your posts don't change until you say yes. Keep a backup of your site, as you would with any plugin.
Do I need to know any code?
