Here's how to use Claude for SEO audit work on WordPress: you connect Claude to your site, ask it to check your pages, and read the prioritized report it hands back. You decide which fixes to make. That's the whole loop, and you can run it without knowing SEO.

The short answer

I run this on my own site, HowToAI School, with an AI employee called the SEO Auditor. The walkthrough below uses what it found on my site, so you can see a real report rather than a made-up one.

  • You need: a WordPress site, your own paid Claude plan and a connector.
  • You get: a score out of 10 and a list of fixes, each naming the page and the WordPress screen to open.
  • You do: read the list and say yes, later or no.

What a Claude SEO audit checks on a WordPress site

With a connection to your site, Claude can read your pages the way a visitor would and the way your SEO plugin sees them. On my site it looked at search titles and descriptions, page headings, how much real text each page has, the sitemap, robots.txt, llms.txt, and whether test or leftover pages were open to Google.

It turned up things I'd have missed:

Found

Two membership pages with no search title or description

Google had nothing to show for them but whatever it guessed.

Found

A Community page with about six visible words

Too thin for Google to know what it's about.

Found

A Blog page that was still a leftover template

With placeholder testimonials on it. Nobody had told me, because nobody reads those pages the way an audit does.

Bottom line

An audit reads every page, including the ones you forgot you had.

What you need before you start

01

A WordPress site

An SEO plugin like Rank Math helps, because Claude can read the titles and descriptions it stores.

02

Your own paid Claude plan

Claude Pro is US$20 a month. ChatGPT Plus works too.

03

A way to connect the AI to your site

HowToAI School's Connector does that part, and it's included in the membership, which starts at $299 a year for one site. You can see the plans on the membership section of the homepage. Other connectors exist too; I compared them in Best WordPress MCP Plugins Compared.

You don't need to be technical. I'm not writing code for any of this.

Connect Claude to your site

The Connector links Claude to your WordPress site and acts as the WordPress user who approved the connection. Anything it creates is a draft, and nothing goes live until you say so. I set it up once and every audit after that starts from the same place. My guide to connect Claude to WordPress walks through every click.

Run the audit and read the report

The help page Run your first SEO audit shows the same steps on the WordPress screens, with screenshots.

Ask Claude to run the SEO audit and wait for the report. Mine came back as a score out of 10 with a list of fixes sorted by how much they matter.

My first check-up scored the site 3.5 out of 10. After the changes I made that day, the follow-up scored 4.0. Five fixes had landed:

  • Rank Math set up
  • Lessons and checkout forms taken out of the sitemap
  • Seven test checkout pages set to noindex
  • An old 2018 post removed
  • My two memberships renamed

Each finding says which page it's on, why it matters in plain English, and which WordPress screen to open. For the membership pages it said: open Smart Creator Press, then Products, edit the product, and paste the new title and description into the Rank Math box.

Bottom line

The report tells you what's wrong, where, and exactly which screen fixes it.

Approve the fixes you want, skip the rest

This is where you earn your keep, and it takes about ten minutes. Read each finding and decide yes, later or no.

It does

Small, safe fixes by itself

When a blog post or page has no Google description at all, or a picture has no description, the SEO Auditor fills it in. Every change is listed with an Undo button.

You do

Everything else waits for your yes

Changing a title you already wrote, or anything bigger, sits on the SEO Auditor's page under Your AI Team until you approve it. Some findings are judgment calls, like whether my membership pages should say "Connector" or "School", and those are yours to make.

I said yes to the sitemap and membership page fixes, and I'm leaving the social preview text for later.

What Claude can't see without Search Console

My audit couldn't check clicks, searches, indexing or page speed, because Search Console and PageSpeed weren't connected in Site Kit. Only five of the eight areas could be scored.

That matters for how much you trust the score. Other guides say the same thing: Context Bolt's on-page audit guide points to Search Console as the accurate source for how your own page performs, and Darwin Apps says the audit speeds up finding problems but you still set priorities.

Both guides checked October 9, 2026.

Bottom line

Connect Search Console in Site Kit before your first audit and you get the full picture.

What to do after the first audit

Work through the medium-priority fixes first, then run the audit again. Mine took one day to move from 3.5 to 4.0, and the second report told me which fixes had held and which hadn't. My Generated Homepage page, for example, still loaded after I'd set it to draft.

Run it again after any big change to your site. The report is only useful if you compare it against the last one.

Questions owners ask

Do I need to know SEO?

No. The findings are written for a site owner, with the WordPress screen named.

Will Claude change my site?

Only small, safe things by itself, like filling in a missing Google description, and each one has an Undo button. Everything else waits for your yes, and anything the Connector creates is a draft you publish.

Does the membership include Claude?

No. You bring your own Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus plan, and heavier use may need a higher plan.

Is there a refund?

Yes, there's a 30-day refund policy on HowToAI School memberships.

My verdict

Run one audit before you spend a minute on SEO advice. It shows you which pages need work and which screen fixes each one, and you only say yes to what you agree with. Questions before you join? Send me a message.
